Environmentrepreneurs exists to build a regenerative rural economy in which environmental restoration and livelihood creation aren't competing priorities. We're working toward one connected ecosystem — spanning climate-smart agriculture, biotechnology, renewable energy, carbon-project development, rural industries, exports, and other future enterprise pathways — anchored by our initial flagship pathway, the Green Gold Initiative, our integrated, bamboo-centred route from cultivation through to livelihoods and climate impact. The Green Gold Initiative is integral to Environmentrepreneurs, but it is not the whole of it. This is a multi-year undertaking. We haven't set a public timeline, funding milestone, or scale target, because we don't have one we can stand behind yet.
Two problems, one shared solution
Across many rural communities, land and biomass — bamboo, agricultural residue, degraded land suited to restoration — often go under-used as sources of income, while people look for durable livelihoods that don't require leaving home to find them. We believe environmental restoration and rural livelihood creation can be the same activity instead of a trade-off between them. We haven't yet published data specific to the geographies we plan to work in, and we won't claim numbers we can't back up — this is the problem framing that shapes our approach, not a market study.
How we mean to prove it, not just say it
Our mission is to develop and demonstrate, through validated pilots and honest documentation, an ecosystem of rural livelihood models that can be evaluated on real evidence — not aspiration alone. Concretely, that means:
- Developing a proposed model for each part of the ecosystem before claiming it works.
- Testing the most promising models through small, well-governed pilots before scaling anything.
- Measuring impact honestly against a defined framework, rather than asserting outcomes.
- Building partnerships only where they're actually documented, not merely discussed.
- Publishing all of the above, including what doesn't work, as we go.
